a : Produces Oocutes b : Releases
Hormones
It is Pinkish-white in colour &
having a ovid shape. main functions of ovaries are formation
of oocuptes and production and releasing hormones.

UTERUS :
It is a THICK-WALLED
MUSCULAR ORGAN made up of three layers i.e. Perimetrium,
myometrium and Endometrium.
The Endometrium undergoes
cyclical changes induced by ovarian hormones at the on set of
puberty. If pregnancy dose not occur, each cycle ends with the
menstrual flow produced by the breakdown & discharge of
all layers.

Body of the UTERUS
: having a
- FUNDUS and
- TWO SURFACE :
1) A nteriar or Vesical 2)
Posterior or Intestinal
The cavity of the uterus is
a Triangular slit between the Intestinal & Vesical walls.
the uterine tubes enter the angles in the fundus. The apex is
continuous with the cervical canal - the junction is called
the "Internal os".
OCERVIX :
Cylindrical in shape size : 2.5 cm long.
The canal of the Cervix is spindle shaped & communicates
above with the body of uterus.
Arterial Supply :
- Chiefly by the two uterine arteries.
- Partly by the ovarian arteries.
Venous Drainage :
Lymph Drainages
:
- Aortic Nodes
- Superficial Inguinal nodes
- Ext. Iliac
- Int. Iliac
- Sacral Nodes
Narve Supply
: Interiar Hypogastric plexus
- Sympathetic Nerve T12 & L1 -
Produces uterine contractions & vaso - constrictions.
- The Para - Sympathetic Nerve - S2, S3,
S4 Produces uterine - inhibition & vasodilatation.
FALLOPIAN TUBES
:
The main function of
Fallopian tube is to carry the discharged gunm and
fertilisation of ovum.
It is a 10 cms. long, muscular structure
lined internally with nucus membrane. It is sub divides in to
three parts
| 1. |
INFUNDIBULUM : |
Its is a Lateral end, funnel-shaped
which contains fimbriae. |
| 2. |
AMPULLA : |
is medial to the infundibulum which
comprises 6 - 7 cms of the tube (lat. 2/3). |
| 3. |
ISTHMUS : |
is 2 - 3 cms long and comprises
medial 1/3 of the tube. |
BLOOD SUPPLY
: Uterine artery - (Medial 2/3rd ) Overian artery
(Lateral 1/3rd)
VEINS :
Pampiniform plexus of the ovary and uterine veins.
LYMPH DRAINAGE :
- Lateral Aortic Nodes.
- Pre-Aortic Nodes and
- Superficial Inguinal nodes.
NEVER SUPPLY :
- Sympathetic Nerves : (T10 to L2)
derived froul the Hypogastric Plexus.
- Para - sympathetic nerves : derived
from the VAGUS.
